Christina Martinez Wins Flute Contest

When Christina decided to learn how to play the flute, she had no idea that she would be good enough in just nine (9) months to be chosen to play "The Mexican Hat Dance" in front of everyone at Lester Shields Elementary School! Christina confidently played the solo at the assembly in June. Learning to play the flute was especially difficult for Christina because she had braces put on her teeth last October, just one month after she started playing the instrument. She says "I got used to it!" Good job, Christina!!

Christina (age 10) and her two brothers, Jaime (age 9) and Daniel (age 6), have fun in school. Jaime is going into the 4th grade and enjoys writing stories and drawing cartoons. Daniel looks forward to having fun in 2nd grade.

Christina has more noteworthy achievements. She serves her school as School Treasurer, assists the pre-schoolers during their lunch time, helps in the cafeteria, and most of all she gets good grades! We are very proud of the achievements of Christina, Jaime, and Daniel this year.
